Pursuing my master’s degree in Chemistry at Sokoine University of Agriculture has been one of the most transformative experiences of my academic journey. I am deeply grateful to INTERACT-AFRICA for sponsoring my studies and enabling me to pursue education beyond my home country.
There is a saying from my community: “A child who never visits other homes grows up believing only their mother knows how to cook.” This resonates deeply with me. Studying in a neighboring country has helped me appreciate the richness, diversity, and kindness of people beyond my borders. I have learned that education extends far beyond the classroom; it occurs through the exchange of ideas, cultures, and everyday human interactions.
Coming from a Swahili-speaking environment has made my transition smooth and rewarding. However, it has also pushed me to learn more profound and expressive Swahili, something that deepens my connection with the local community. I have discovered beauty not only in academics but also in the warmth of the people, their traditions, and their hospitality.
Academically, this experience has deepened my passion for green chemistry and sustainable scientific solutions. My goal is to make a meaningful contribution to tackling environmental and climate challenges through research and innovation. I am confident that the skills, experiences, and networks I am developing here will enable me to become a stronger scientist and changemaker in my field.
I am genuinely grateful to INTERACT-AFRICA for believing in my potential and investing in my education. This scholarship has not only opened academic opportunities for me but has also broadened my worldview. I look forward to carrying on the values of learning, collaboration, and sustainability that this experience has inspired in me.
Thank you.
