Mobility in Innovative Green Technologies for Climate Change Mitigation and Sustainable Bioeconomy (INTERACT-Africa)
Background
INTERACT-Africa is an Intra-Africa Academic mobility project funded by the European Union (EU). The project focuses on Chemistry, Biology and Information Technology, with emphasis on conversion of organic waste to valuable bioproducts for transitioning into environmental sustainable and socially inclusive economies.
INTERACT-Africa aims at:
- Promoting inclusive learning mobility opportunities by enhancing capacity building of HEIs by focusing on training and education in green Chemistry, Biology and Information Technology aimed at developing a skilled workforce capable of implementing sustainable practices
- Fostering entrepreneurship and support the establishment of green technology businesses in Africa by providing mentorship, access to funding, and technical support to aspiring entrepreneurs and start-ups working in the field of green Chemistry, Biology and Information technology
- Facilitating networking and knowledge sharing among businesses to promote innovation and sustainable economic growth through provision of internships, cooperative education programs, and hands-on learning opportunities.
About Staff Mobility
- Staff mobility involves academic, administrative, and technical staff engaging in innovative teaching assignments, research activities and administrative tasks that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and green entrepreneurship skills while abroad
- Staff may also participate in attendance in/delivery of training courses (or part of a course), giving seminars, curriculum development activities, or offer technical support abroad to participating institutions..
- The duration of the staff mobility must be a minimum of 2 weeks and maximum of 1 month (30 days inclusive of travel dates)
Number of Scholarships
INTERACT-Africa is offering one (1) scholarship for staff per host institution.
Scholarship Eligibility criteria
- At the time of scholarship application, candidates must be full-time faculty member/Technical/Administrative staff members of one of the HEIs involved in the INTERACT-Africa project consortium.
- Belong to one of the INTERACT-Africa Thematic fields (Applications from other thematic-related fields will be considered).
Funding provided by the European Union through the Intra-Africa for the scholarship holders
- Comprehensive health and accident insurance cover
- Monthly stipend/allowance;
a) Staff will receive a monthly stipend of 2,370 Euros. This also includes- travels cost to and from the host institution,
- Visa costs, and
- settling allowance. For a partial month, a pro-rata unit cost will be reimbursed for each day.
How to apply for the scholarship
- Each candidate may submit ONLY ONE application.

- To apply, candidates must , upload the following as part of the application (on penalty of disqualification):
- A pdf file containing updated curriculum vitae, written in English;
- A pdf file containing motivation letter to participate in the mobility.
- A pdf file containing any language certificate/evidence as specified in the call for applications;
- Any other certificates considered useful for assessment purposes. These documents must be uploaded in pdf format.
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
ONCE PRESENTED, APPLICATIONS CANNOT BE ALTERED OR WITHDRAWN.
