INTERACT Africa strengthens Research, Training and International Networks at SUA

The Interact Africa Project at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) has significantly improved education and research by strengthening international collaboration and offering professional training.

According to Dr. Jacqueline Makatiani, Senior Lecturer at Moi University and the project’s coordinator, the initiative involves universities and institutions across Africa and beyond, focusing on agriculture, health, and environmental sectors. It enhances expertise through practical training, workshops, and collaborative projects involving students, lecturers, and researchers.

The project aims to position SUA as a hub for research and innovation that addresses social and economic challenges while also building strong academic networks with partner universities.

Beneficiary students expressed gratitude, noting that the project has enriched their academic experience and professional skills.

Representing SUA’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Maulid Mwatawala – Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic, Research and Consultancy) highlighted that SUA has updated all its curricula to be competency-based, integrating areas such as climate change, inclusivity, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).
