Under the theme “Bridging the Gap Between Research and Innovation for Commercialization,” the INTERACT-Africa project hosted an impactful two-day workshop aimed at equipping postgraduate students and faculty with the tools to translate academic research into market-ready solutions.
The interactive sessions empowered participants with core concepts in innovation systems thinking, value chains, and sustainable business models. To further support researchers in securing their innovations, the workshop explored key aspects of university research policy, focusing on Intellectual Property (IP), patenting procedures and commercialization pathways.
A dedicated open forum allowed postgraduates and faculty to exchange ideas, address real-world challenges, and propose actionable strategies for enhancing research impact across the region.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Khaemba Ongeti, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics, Research, Extension & Student Affairs) at Moi University, commended the INTERACT-Africa project for its leadership in advancing research translation and emphasized the institution’s commitment to supporting the initiative’s mission through stronger industry linkages and innovation frameworks.
