INTERACTAFRICA PhD Scholar Publishes AI-Driven Biofuel Research

Philimon Dickson Nganyira (pictured), a PhD scholar under the INTERACTAFRICA Mobility Project, has published landmark research on optimizing renewable energy production in the Asian Journal of Applied Chemistry Research.

The study, titled Lignocellulosic Pretreatment in Integrated Biofuel Systems: Linking Biomass Chemistry, Microbial Dynamics, Reactor Engineering and AI-Driven Optimization for Bioethanol and Biomethane Production,” proposes an integrated framework to improve the efficiency and economic viability of second-generation biofuels.


By combining biochemical principles with modern artificial intelligence tools, the research addresses key technological bottlenecks in processing resilient plant biomass.

Co-authored with Dr. Sarah Cherono Chepkwony and Prof. Jackson Kiplagat Cherutoi of Moi University (Kenya), alongside Jovine Kamuhabwa Emmanuel of Sokoine University of Agriculture (Tanzania), the paper showcases the power of intra-African research collaboration. This milestone highlights INTERACTAFRICA’s commitment to advancing academic mobility and developing sustainable energy solutions across the continent.
